Recreative Program

Age: 3 - 14yo

Class: 1class/week (1hr/class)

Levels: Initaition to Ballet (3-5yo); Pre-Ballet 1; Pre-Ballet 2; Pre-Ballet 3; Grade 1; Grade 2; (For students start at the age around 8: Beginner 3; Intermediate 1)

🌟 From First Steps to Confident Little Dancers 🌟

In our beginner ballet class, little ones start by learning the basics—how to stand tall, kneel, sit, and move gently. We help them stretch, relax, and begin exploring how their bodies move with music and in space. 🎵🩰

As they grow, so do their skills! They’ll improve posture, flexibility, and coordination, while learning to feel the rhythm and perform simple dance routines on their own. 💃✨

By the time they reach Grade 1, our young dancers gain flexibility, rhythm, confidence, and stage presence. They start learning performance skills and expressing emotions through movement—because dancing is not just steps, it’s storytelling too! 🎭❤️

Levels: Pre-Primary in Dance (5-6yo); Primary in Dance; Grade 1; Grade 2; Grade 3; Grade 4; Grade 5; Intermediate Foundation

🎓 What’s So Special About RAD Ballet Exams?

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams are world-famous classical ballet exams—over 250,000 dancers take them every year! 🌍🩰

Starting from age 5, RAD helps children grow in coordination, musicality, and teamwork—all while dancing to beautiful music played by the London Symphony Orchestra. 🎶✨

From Grade 1 to Grade 8, each level builds on the last. Kids gain confidence with simple steps, then keep challenging themselves as they level up—making training fun, not boring! 🎉💪

Oh, and here’s a cool bonus:
Advanced RAD exams can even count towards university applications in the UK (UCAS points)! 🎓📚

Unlike other exams, students can only take RAD exams if they’re recommended by a RAD Registered Teacher.

Since Ms. Chloey is officially certified, CY Ballet students are eligible to take part and shine on the RAD stage! 🌟

Pre-Elite Program

Class: 7 classes/week (1.5-2hrs/class)

🌟 Pre-Elite Program|A “Step-Up” Track for Young Dance Lovers!

The Pre-Elite Program is specially designed for young dancers currently in the RAD program who love to dance, show great potential, and are ready for a bit more challenge.

Some students absolutely adore dancing—but maybe they’re not quite old enough for the Elite Program yet, or they’re still figuring things out:
Can I handle more training?
What’s it like to try different dance styles?
Am I ready to start preparing for competitions?

That’s exactly who Pre-Elite is for!

💃 More Variety, More Training Time

  • Keep your current RAD classes, no changes there!

  • Add one weekly Ballet Technique class to build strength, flexibility, and body control

  • Plus one class of Chinese Classical Dance or Contemporary Dance to expand musicality, expression, and performance range

Think of Pre-Elite as a little springboard—
A chance to explore new movement, gain confidence, and gently ease into more advanced training.

It's the perfect foundation for moving into Elite, stepping onto the competition stage, or even preparing for a more serious dance path in the future! 💪🌈

CY Elite dancers will also take part in national and international dance competitions, depending on school goals.

🗣️ A word from Mr. Sheng:

Joining this program is a team decision—between the teacher, the parents, and the dancer.

Students need passion, parents need to support, and teachers guide the way. 💛

In the early stages, especially during flexibility training, progress can feel slow and even frustrating. But with patience, commitment, and teamwork, we’ll grow stronger—together! 💪🎯

Chinese Folk/Classical Dance

Age: 7 - 11yo

Class: 1class/week (1hr/class)

🌸 Chinese Dance: Where Movement Meets Spirit

One of the most distinctive features of Chinese dance is its seamless blend of dance and song.

This vibrant, expressive style—often performed while singing—brings stories to life in a way that is both joyful and deeply connected to everyday life.

Its accessibility, liveliness, and emotional warmth have made it a cherished part of Chinese cultural heritage. 🇨🇳🎶

🪭 Artistry Through Props

A hallmark of many folk dances is the creative use of props—fans, handkerchiefs, silk ribbons, drums, flower sticks, lanterns, umbrellas, and more. These elements are not just decorative—they enhance the storytelling and add richness to the movement, making each performance more dynamic, colorful, and engaging. 🎨🩰

💫 Emotion-Driven Expression

While each region’s folk dance traditions have their own structure and style, spontaneity and improvisation play an essential role. Many experienced folk dancers are known for creating their most captivating moments in the heat of emotion, letting their feelings guide the movement.
This tradition of dancing from the heart brings authenticity and individuality to every performance.

Chinese folk dance is not only a celebration of rhythm and movement—it’s a celebration of community, culture, and human emotion.

Contemporary Dance

Age: 7 - 12yo

Class: 1class/week (1.5hr/class)

Contemporary dance is a creative style that blends elements of ballet and jazz. It encourages students to express emotion, tell stories through movement, and explore the art of dance in a free and imaginative way. 💃✨

Unlike ballet, contemporary dance teaches students to move their bodies in new ways—closer to the ground, more fluid and natural, with a focus on breath and body connection. 🌊🧘‍♀️

Contemporary dance is also an essential part of today’s major ballet companies around the world. More and more professional dancers are expected to master contemporary techniques alongside strong classical training. For students with dreams of dancing professionally, it’s a key step in becoming a well-rounded artist. 🌍🎓

Perfect for students who love to move freely and think creatively, contemporary dance builds strength, flexibility, confidence—and unlocks the joy of self-expression through movement! 🎭🎶

It’s a meaningful occasion where our young dancers step onto a professional stage, express their passion, and grow in confidence, all while giving back through the art of dance. 🌟💖

🩰 Class Etiquette & Dress Code

Ballet is an art of elegance and discipline. Proper class etiquette and uniform dress are basic ways to show respect for the art form.

In addition to greeting rituals before and after class, a clean, standardized outfit helps children stay focused and shows respect to the teacher and the class.

We provide custom uniforms to ensure students are dressed comfortably and professionally. Basic attire includes: leotard, footed tights, and soft ballet shoes.

Students in Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Program will be gradually equipped with belts, skirts, character skirts and shoes, pointe shoes, and other dance props based on level.
